A New Milestone for My Health

(For more information about my dieting and weight loss, click here.)

MilestoneI’ve reached a major milestone in my dieting. It’s not a weight loss goal but it’s better. See, this all started because I was diagnosed with diabetes. I’ve been on Glucophage since the diagnosis. However, I had a doctor’s appointment. I asked her if I could get off my Glucophage and I’ve done so. I’ve mentioned that already. The milestone is the blood sugar number for today. You’ll see it in a bit. But not only is that blood sugar number good without the Glucophage, but even AFTER eating it was only 113. 113 after eating! That is amazing for me. 113 is below the high of 120. I’m quite happy. This means I may have beaten the diabetes. I’ll know more over the next week or so and especially in a month when I go back for blood work, but this is a great sign!

Wow grats man, I know its hard to have to control what you eat sometimes. I always have no motivation for exercising, but I’ve been walking to lunch instead of driving lately. Every little bit counts right?

Yes. It does. If you happen to really like music, try putting on something you like with a beat and move to it. Doesn’t have to be major dancing, just moving. Break a sweat make the heart beat. Those are the important things.

Congratulations! I have a few diabetic friends and I know what a pain it can be to need injections all the time, I’m glad you got it under control. I’m fortunate enough to not have any such illnesses, but I am trying to get healthier - since I became self employed and lost access to my old companies gym I’ve found myself eating junk food and sitting around far too much :(

@Jennyq - I never had to do the injections but I hate even having to take medications. I like it better when my body does all the work it’s supposed to do. I have to say, I haven’t gotten sick or anything ever since I lost this weight. It’s pretty nice.
