(For more information about my dieting and weight loss, click here.)
For those of you who like seeing pictures as proof, I bring my early Christmas present to you. What a difference 64.8 pounds makes, huh? And it’s only going to get better. Oh, I’ve asked this before, but if anyone finds any other hats like the one I’m wearing in my after but with different colors and designs, please let me know. Heck, I don’t even care if it’s pink. I love that style of hat, but that’s my only one and I haven’t found any more around here. And if you send it to me, no matter what it looks like, I’ll take a picture with it on and post it here.
As for my blood sugar, well, it was a little over 120 this time at 122. But I’m still not worried because I took it again later this evening after eating and it was only 103. So I may just have this thing beat.

This is so COOL! I’m inspired by your work and how well you are doing! I came by way of Ferd’s story about you on his blog A Crazy Medblog at

Link worked great.
I saw a hat like that just recently. Let me think on it. Hmmmm.
Anyway…Way to GO!!!

Congrats on the progress. My wife went through a similar experience around a year ago and she elected to have VSG surgery to help her. Glad to see you reaching your goals.

@Karen - Thanks much! And if you find that hat, you must tell me!
@Bruce - I considered surgery, but I felt I just had to do it for myself.
It’s funny, as I type this I can see the veins and tendons in my hands. I’m not used to that.

Where’s the how-to book, saphrym? I’ll buy it now! If you can do that, I can do it too. You should be the spokesperson of yogurt or whole wheat or sumthing. Congratulations!
My dad collects those hats. He got them from flea markets in California I think, and one in Hawaii, during his visits to the US.

@Woobie - I keep trying to contact Slim-Fast, but I guess 65 pounds isn’t enough for them.
As for the hats, I’ll have to see if there’s any flea markets around here. Thanks.

Keep it up! If you want any fresh ideas for exercise then just hit me up. However, the first thing I will tell you to do is to try out swimming. The water resistance helps build all sorts of muscle.
By Saphrym on Dec 27, 2007 |
@Merritt - I’ve done some swimming. I enjoy it. My problem is I’m not a very good “normal” swimmer. I swim under the water instead of on top of it. Helps with the muscles, but my wife keeps beating me in races.
