I’m prideful. Everyone has a little pride and so do I. See, I’ve been dieting, as if you didn’t know, and I’ve lost a lot of weight. Over 60 pounds now. The thing I’m prideful about is that I haven’t used fad diets or surgical procedures or any of those other costly methods of losing weight. I’ve been using a diet that started with only one requirement by my doctor: I must eat 5 meals and each one must be less than a certain amount of carbohydrates.
Journey Lite specializes in Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding which is also known as LAGB or the LAP BAND System procedure. The LAPBAND Adjustable Gastric Band is designed to help you lose excess body weight, improve weight-related health conditions and enhance quality of life. It reduces the stomach capacity and restricts the amount of food that can be consumed at one time.
My own personal preference would be to not use such a thing. But I’ve also found that I have a higher willpower when it comes to food than I ever thought possible. Some people don’t have that luxury, even when their life is on the line like mine was as a diabetic. Some people need to use surgery. The surgery that Journey Lite does seems very mild compared to others I’ve heard of. Basically they cut a few small slits in you. One is for long handled surgical instruments. The other is for a camera. So instead of a huge scar, you only get a couple of tiny ones. And if you don’t know what a LAP-BAND® is, it’s used to make the stomach smaller which makes you eat less food. It’s basically like tying a rubber band around part of your stomach so it can be used. I found a good diagram at St. Alexius New Start. It’s close to the design that Journey Lite uses so should serve as a good example. It’s on the right. Click it for the full version
Again, I’m not even a big fan of eating less food. I eat the same amount of food total that I used to if you were to stack it all in one container. However, I eat 5 times a day instead of once or twice and I eat foods that are better for me. Even my pizza is better for me because it’s homemade and I get to choose my ingredients to keep it healthy. Healthy ingredients and a thin crust work wonders.
But if it was to become a necessity, I’d probably try LAP-BAND®. The less invasive the surgery, the better. So check out their Los Angeles weight loss surgery web site. It gives you tons more information on the web site about the procedures. If you need it, there’s nothing wrong with a little research.
