DIET DIARY
NUMBERS FROM TODAY
Blood Sugar: 109
Weight: 285
Fat Percentage: 49.4
Water Percentage: 29.3
Muscle Percentage: 34.5
First, I’ll get the health stuff out of the way. That blood sugar number is actually from the middle of the day about 4 hours after eating. So not in the 90s like normal, but good nonetheless considering it wasn’t a fasting number. The weight is the same yet again. No excuses. I just haven’t been exercising like I’m supposed to. Still losing inches though. I’m a 47 waist now.
Next, a site update. I’m working on a new design that I hope will load much faster than this one. The tabs on the right that show categories and archives are nice, but the javascript is slowing down the load. The CSS files are also separated and load time on them is quite long (in milliseconds, but still). I was hoping to have it done by tonight so I could unveil it, but it may take until next weekend. Any tips on how to handle the archives and categories without making long list of links to them in the sidebar would be appreciated, but keep in mind, I’m trying to cut back on the amount of javascript but still would like old posts easily found. Will search be enough for you guys, as my readers? Or would you rather the links to the categories and archives still be available in some form?
Finally, a personal update. We’ve reached another milestone in our quest to purchase the house we’re currently renting and have been researching mortgage lenders to try and find a decent company to go with. Just a few more steps and we’ll be calling them and applying for the loans. Keep your fingers crossed for us because this is something we’ve been wanting for a long time now. (And I’d ask you to go to my wife’s blog and congratulate her on her recent acceptance into a Master’s program that is limited to 50 students per year to teach special education, but she doesn’t have a blog. She does read this one though, so feel free to congratulate her here.)
Thanks to all of you guys. You’re really making this blogging experience enjoyable. (As a matter of fact, I’m extending the “deadline” for the Random Reward post from yesterday since only 2 comments have been made as of this writing. I want to give more of you a chance to get the quick 5 bucks and possible free t-shirt. Go read it to see what I mean.)

I sure wish I could get my husbands’ sugar down consistently like yours seems to be. His will be 109 (fasting) one day, then 156 the next. I really try to make him healthy, yet tasty food.
I think a lot of his problem is he works long hours and many days in a row and so feels too tired to do any exercise.
Maybe I could get him to read your blog on a regular basis, he would see another man going through these same things and would be inspired to do better for himself.

Margaret: Do you count carbs? Each meal should have so many grams of carbs, protein, and fats. Also, Dietary Fiber is listed under carbs, but don’t count those. I look for a meal of 600-650 calories, ideally with around 30 grams of carbs. Include beverages and condiments in your count.
On the other hand, my wife belongs to the lazy group. She goes by the “healthy food theory”. If I tell her I want a 650 calorie meal for lunch. She will pick one food she considers healthy, measure out 650 calories, and then give it to me for lunch, regardless of carbs, fat, and protein. Sometimes I get an enormous plate of vegetables, or a tiny serving of meat with sauce, or my favorite, the enormous bowl of cornflakes, all 650 calories worth.

Congradulations on the house venture. My sister is trying to sell hers and buy a bigger one.. It’s a jungle out there. I’m staying put in my old falling down house here myself.. Congradulations to The Mrs too.. That’s great to be accepted into a program like that.. I have much admiration for you if you work with special kids. I have a step-son who was and is very much special needs. He had one so,so teacher and then finally one GREAT teacher. I personally know the job is Tough and thankless! My daughter spent every single spare moment she had in school wotking as a mentor in one of those classes. She has been hit, pushed around and even down, cursed at and about, spit at and even spit on and still she went there every chance she had.. So I admire you. Good luck in the class!

I know I don’t “really” know you (other than by being your partner in fashion design for biker chick models), but I’m still very proud of you.
I was reading about your weight loss efforts, and it’s inspiring to see how much you’ve lost and what you’re doing to lose it (especially since I’m also on the weight loss journey myself and can always use some extra motivation).
Kudos & Salud!
