At least I feel like I do. I get tons of ideas and have tons of things I want to and need to do. There are computer games I want to finish. There are Wii games I want to play. There are books I want to read. There are movies I want to watch. There aren’t ever enough hours in the day to hang out with my daughter and wife. I feel like HDMI switches where there are tons of sources of things to do, and only one set of hands to take care of them all. But at least with those, you only deal with one source at a time. My brain won’t let me do that.
“Do this now! And this! And this!”
It screams at me all day and most of the night.
So I want 20 hands. Seriously I do. Anyone know a good surgeon who can do this for me? Anyone have spare hands they don’t need? Anyone know a good manicurist that’ll take care of the fingernail clipping for me?
Wait. I’ll need arms to go with those hands. Sheesh. And then I’ll need room to use all of them at once. Hmmm. That means even longer arms than normal. I guess this won’t work. Forget I said anything.

I’m having the problem of being accused of spending too much time with the daughter. I am spending a lot of time with her, but also with my wife. Sometimes you just can’t win.

I know that feeling. I’m focusing on being super-mom, a good wife, volunteering in the community, running a business, achieving creative goals, and keeping my sanity. I often find myself feeling like I just need more time, but we don’t get that. We never get more time. We get only what there is, so we have to prioritize, figure out what is most important to us during the time we have.
My prioritizing has led me to spend less time on my website. I love playing with my website, but I don’t want “Here lies Kristen who ran a website which barely crept into the realm of recognition for it’s printables” on my grave marker. Yes, it makes money for me, and I certainly appreciate that (I love it, and I hope it continues to bring in some extra pennies), but I’d rather be remembered for something bigger, and I’d like my kids and husband to know me as more than just somebody who sat in front of the computer all day.
So now, I’m focusing on bigger things and spending more fun-time with my family.
20 hands not required.

@Bill - This is true. Sometimes, you can’t.
@Kristen - I definitely prioritize. That’s why the things I mention are more recreational. They always end up taking a back burner to what I’m currently working on. Just wish I could do them all.

Have you considered Elance? I used them for some graphics and copywriting work and am considering bidding some additional work.
By Saphrym on Jul 21, 2008 |
@BSA - Actually, I’m working on my profile there. I’m currently a substitute teacher still finishing my Master of Arts in Teaching degree. So, in the summers I don’t get much paid work. Hence why I’m working on my “writing” profile at eLance.

Oh man that would look weird. What with the weird hair cut and egg shaped head you’ve got going on. Don’t get me wrong, it looks good… just don’t think it’d look good with 20 hands. Hm… I imagine your wife would like it too if you had 20 hands… hehehe ok I’ll stop.
