(The Daily Read is a series of blog posts written on posts that have been found throughout the Entrecard blogosphere. If you’re interested in having your own post listed here, send me a link to that post THROUGH ENTRECARD. You can do so by clicking on the “E” on the Entrecard widget to your right. I will take a look and respond to let you know if it will be featured here.)
Today’s Daily Read is going to be a little bit different.
Fawnzy.com
Today’s read of the day is a much different place than a blog. It’s for blogs. It’s for Entrecard. But it’s not a blog. It’s a forum. See, anyone who has been around Entrecard knows that the forums “lack” something. There’s quite a few features missing that we all really want. So, Fawnzy.com has decided to take it upon themselves to create a place for Entrecarders to mingle. So, a normal review of the site can’t be done as I’ve done in the past. The only place I see ads is on the launch page, not within the forums themselves. The content is user created. And the design is a free template for PHPBB that I’ve seen many times.
However, it’s not the design, content, or ad placement that really matters here. It’s the fact that a lot of Entrecarders are starting to show up over there and it’s become a decent place to converse, trade stuff, learn about contests, etc. The admins do a good job of keeping up with the latest information and making sure posts are made about them.
You really need to check this place out for yourself. There’s just so many forums and threads that it would take a few pages to explain it. I will say this though, for all of you card droppers, the widget is located right in the middle of the page, so should be easy to find.
Oh, and they made a forum dedicated to little ol’ me. If that doesn’t scare you off, then visit them now and join in the conversations.

I like the idea behind this site, but I think it could use a better theme.

The forums could use a little snazzing up compared to some established phpbb sites. What I like is that when someone goes there with a question, it’s real and not spam. I’m also not afraid to give a page long answer and then get my post buries with new posts that ask questions answered a million times.

First of all Saphym, I want to sincerely thank you for taking the time out of your busy daily schedule to review Fawnzy.com. I greatly respect your opinions and consider this an opportunity to see what you and other Entrecard members want and need in a new forum. With that said, I would like to be the first one to say that Fawnzy is definitely in a beta phase and has much room to improve. I feel it will take the group effort of all it’s members to begin and implement some changes to ensure Fawnzy is looked upon as a respected knowledge resource in the Entrecard industry. Our ultimate strategy is to become a asset for all entrecard users and to make newer members feel the exact same appreciation that is given to veteran members. In my opinion, this is what a lot of “pretty” forums lack and what I and others strive to bring to Fawnzy. We are creating a positive environment from the “ground up” and feel lucky to have someone like you offer honest feedback. We are a new forum, but relentless when it comes to making everyone feel comfortable and welcome. Once again Saphrym, I sincerely appreciate you reviewing Fawnzy and I hope to gain more feedback from your readers on how we as a whole can make Fawnzy.com a valued benefit for all those that participate. Thank you, take care, and I’ll see you in the forum! Cheers, -Rud

@Turnip - I completely agree. Important posts get buried by the “fluff” often at Entrecard.
@Rudy - You’re most welcome. And don’t get me wrong, sure it could look nicer, but as I said in the review, that’s not the important thing. You are doing it right.
