DIET DIARY

STARTING NUMBERS (Before I started the diet)
Blood Sugar: 287
Weight: 355.0
NUMBERS FROM TODAY
Blood Sugar: 77
Weight: 285.4
Fat Percentage: 48.6
Water Percentage: 29.9
Muscle Percentage: 34.6

I now know how floor mops feel. Especially that kind. Although I’m jealous. At least when that one has been used up it’s “head” can be replaced. I want to replace my head. But I can’t. However, for now, it’s all over.

“Tiii-iii-iii-iime is on my side… yes it is.”

My finals are done. My final homework is done. So the semester is over. I just need a new head. But that also means I will have more time for everything else I want to do. Yay!

But tonight, I’m about to pass out. So I’m keeping this short. Look for some cool stuff in the next week though. Oh, and I’d like some comments on this post, so I’m going to leave you with a question:

Should a kindergarten child be suspended for talking? (After a few comments I’ll explain why I’m asking your opinion.)

Suspend a kindergartener for talking? Um. Seriously? No. Wow. I can’t even think about this without having my brain twist in weird ways.

And my final isn’t until Tuesday. :) My head is too full of Zen Buddhism to be able think about punishing kids for being who they are.

Clearly you need to provide more info than just “suspended for talking” but even if I assume the words said were hurtful, harmful, terrible words, it’s hard to hold a 5 year old accountable by suspending them from school. Of course I reserve the right to change my opinion once you provide the color!

If this child did anything wrong by talking I can only imagine what it would have been. If it were real bad then the Parents should be suspended. From something

for talking? I wold be concerned with a kindergarten student that didn’t talk, too much! Language is a tool to be developed and cherished. Oh my, I can’t wait to hear “the rest of the story” to quote Paul Harvey.

i love your new entrecard widget.hehe, i got hypnotised. LOLS!
about your question, hmm, kindergartens are only a bunch of 5yr-olds, and not knowing sometimes what they are blurting out. So i think that’s too harsh.

Ok. Here’s the deal: My nephew can be wild sometimes. But finally enough discipline has been used to keep him under control. However, in the school he’s in, they get onto him for talking. Sometimes he “ignores” them and continues talking. But that’s all he’s doing. When he was younger, he was kicked out of preschools for hitting and biting. Now he’s just overly talkative. This is his 3rd time being suspended for talking and each time it’s for 3 days.

Congrats on completing exams and still having your head stuffed - mine always felt empty :P

I don’t agree with the kid’s school for suspending him for talking — time out in a corner, yeah — suspension no. What’s he learning from that? That if he talks, he gets to spend 3 days at home (or in daycare) playing, watching TV or other fun stuff — not very good thing to learn IMO.

I always loved school and wanted to go even when desperately ill, but that’s not the case with all kids and I attribute much of that reluctance to crappy experiences in the early years — kindergarten can’t get any earlier.

Sounds like this teacher just has no control; no discipline in his/her classroom — that’s a teacher fault, not a kid fault and I would be talking to the principal and teacher to get my child moved into anther classroom or school altogether.

Ok, I’ve written a book when all you asked for was a simple comment.

are you aware that often boys are singled out for inappropriate behavior because they are more active, while girls are reinforced for being “good”? More boys than girls are diagnosed as “ADHD” also? Unfortunately, teachers are ill prepared to handle the active nature of boys. Yet,it is those same traits that help create success in later life. If that was my son, (and this is only an opinion) I would schedule a parent teacher conference to discuss how the teacher can recognize this young man’s abilities to and enthusiasm in a positive way, to channel his energies into a win/win for teacher, student and class!

Contact me off line and we can discuss options if you wish. I am a parent of boys and a former teacher of special ed., however, I am not an expert!

@Margaret and Debbie - I completely agree. It’s hard for us to do much from Kentucky. They live in Louisiana. My wife and I are both substitute teachers working on our teaching certificates. So either I’m not getting the full story from the in-laws or someone needs to work with that teacher.
