DIET DIARY

NUMBERS FROM TODAY
Blood Sugar: 78
Weight: 285.0
Fat Percentage: 48.7
Water Percentage: 29.8
Muscle Percentage: 34.6

I really need more cardio. I’m waiting on a friend who is supposed to be getting me a cheap exercise bike. Gonna put it in the living room and ride when I watch television. I mean, my clothes are still getting bigger. My muscles are still getting bigger. But I want my weight to go down. Must have cardio.

“Saturday Update? Why the name change?” Well, because I’m going to start using Saturday to not only update you on my diet but on anything I feel I’d like to tell you about the site. So here’s a few things about the site:

  1. I updated to WordPress 2.5 so if you see anything weird going on, feel free to let me know. The backend on this thing is beautiful.
  2. I got rid of Project Wonderful and replaced it with Show Your Ad Here. I’ve also cut down to just the one ad. So if anyone actually buys the ad, then they’ll be the only ad on my site, other than the Entrecard. It’s only $10.00 a week and will help me cover the cost of my hosting. If you wanna buy one, the link is under the ad.
  3. I’m going to change the MWF Read to the Monday Read. This is kind of like when I stopped doing the daily diet update. This isn’t a diet blog. It’s not a “Best of Blogs” blog. It’s a blog in which I want to write stuff that creates emotions within you. Whether you cheer for me on Saturdays as I lose weight (hopefully soon again), cry as I stir your heart strings, smile as I rant about the things that happened in my life, laugh as I produce satire and parodies because of all of the things that I truly want to make fun of, or wait in anticipation as you read the grueling tale of my life during and after Hurricane Katrina attacked us when we lived in Louisiana. I want to write these things, but lately I’ve been writing too much of the other stuff. But don’t worry. If you’re here for the dieting, tune in on Saturdays. If you’re here for the “Great Blog Posts,” tune in on Mondays. Otherwise, enjoy the ride the rest of the days.

As for tuning in, tomorrow I pay my tribute to Gary Gigax. Feel free to join in.

You know that blood sugar number is crazy low? Make sure you mention it to your doctor. 90-100 should be your pre-breakfast/fasting number. Anything over 150 after eating means a control problem. Low blood sugar is dangerous too, you can pass out. Nothing for your readers to be concerned with, just something I thought I’d mention since I have type 2 diabetes myself.

    The Dog Walk Challenge!

This is simple & free. (You already have a dog!)

Start walking 30 minutes a day, twice a day. Alternate between walking, speed walking, trotting and running and skipping and … Somehow the combination - going between the different speeds - just peels off the weight.

Make it fun. Entertain yourself. Sprint between mail boxes, break into a skip when you see a VW Bug, run backwards two car lengths every 5th block, focus on sniffing and breathing deeply when you walk through a grove of trees. Ad a pedometer and keep track of your steps. Sometimes you’ll be amazed at how little or how much you’ve moved.

You can get the same great cardio workout while golfing especially if you golf military style, like me — “right left, right left, right left!” However, Golfing is not free or even cheap.

Sooooooo … try this for 2 weeks. Don’t poo poo it. (Oh yeah, take a poop bag with you!)

Are you up for this challenge? Is anyone else?

I am so laughing here. I can see me at the track skipping past the others who I see walk head down never looking at the other walkers. I live right across from it so I often notice the walkers. Some would freak out if I did that. But I still might try it.. freaking out might help them huh? a scare might increase their heart rate and thats what we want right? I have dogs but I think I’ll leave mine home.. Maybe just maybe I can find my oldest sons “dog gone” leash that he had as a child. For those that haven’t a clue about that.. It’s a leash with a collar attatched and a heavy wire inside.. you walk with it out in front.. No dog unless it’s invisible.. The more I think of this the more I like it.. I’ll write to you next week from the loony bin!

@Turnip - I checked last night 2 hours after my last meal and had a 157. However, my last meal was a “cheat” meal of ice cream and cake. This morning it was 107. Does that sound about normal?

@Viveca - I’ve wanted to walk, but the weather out here has been rather “unfriendly” for walkers at the moment. It’ll be better in about a week.

@Patsy - You must tell the story after you go walking with a “dog gone” leash.

Hey Saphrym.. the site looks great.. can’t wait to upgrade myself, but I’m feeling quite the chicken in regards to my plugins (bok-bok, bok-bok)

As for losing weight.. I just wanted to cheer you on in your health improvement. I know you want to see the pounds coming off, but regardless, you are improving and you deserve some kudos. Nice job in your progress so far.

Yes, those numbers are close to mine for what you ate. I just never saw anything below an 85 in 7 years myself. All depends on what meds you take I guess.

I was on Glucophage until a couple of months ago. I’m no longer on anything. Other than a daily vitamin, I’m pill free.

Hey saphryn. I was like close to jail for the dog walking.. Be sure you check the story out on my blog. I am so lucky to have a good friend who loves me. And he even turned the trick on me.. Making me think I was about to go to jail.. I have promised him no more ;silly; way to young people might would do; for us; pranks for a year.. But hey It was fun.. and if the rain lets up any time soon here.. I might have to go for another run, walk, waddle, skip , hop around the track! Have a great week-end coming up.. I am going to rest.. taking care of old people all day every day is very tiring.. I had forgotten. It’s also very rewarding..
