I’m excited. I preordered my Wii Fit recently. I keep reading more and more about it and it really looks like I might finally get that fun exercise I’ve been wanting. See, I get bored very easily. When I say very easily, I really mean very. Walking is nice when there’s stuff to look at, but the winter has kind of left the landscape rather barren for now, so it’s boring. I have a hard time doing anything that is boring. So, I’m excited that playing a video game will actually help me get into a decent exercise routine. When I get it, I think in May, I’ll make a post about it on the Saturday Update to let you know if it fits what I’m imagining. Some products manage to live up to my expectations. We’ll see if this one does.

Heck, I remember when my parents bought my first Nintendo. Back then, the only medical thing I had to worry about was which acne treatment was the best. Today, I have to keep track of cholesterol, blood sugar, heart rate, blood pressure, and so forth and so on. But that’s ok. I still get to be a kid because of my daughter. I play with McDonald’s Happy Meal toys. I read Dr. Seuss. She’s keeping me young at heart, and that’s more important, in my eyes, than being young in body.

As for the site, nothing new except a few different kinds of entries. One was the Katrina post. The other was the comic. I wanted to try new things. They seem to both have worked better than I thought, so expect to see more of both in the future. I’ve also been told I should try doing some Photoshop tutorials. I might try some video versions. Not really tutorials, but kind of like the art guy with the big hair who painted all of the “pretty little trees.” I’ll video me doing some graphics design (not me, but the computer screen using something like Camtasia), and then put it up for you guys to see. Sound good? Oh. You may have also noticed I’m weeding out images in my posts. I’m trying to only include them if they are important to the post itself instead of just being “decoration.” That way if it’s there, you know I really want you to look at it.

I’d love a Wii Fit. Of course I’d love a Wii.

Just need to find some room on the top if my pole for a tv…

Oh my. Up to this point, I never saw any need to even WANT a Wii (though I do have two friend who taunt me with their Wii Bowling adventures). But for something like this, I could easily be convinced to change my mind. I do hope you’ll keep us all posted!

Sounds far too complicated - I wouldn’t know a Wii if it jumped up and smacked me on the nose. Give me a good book any day of the week. Better still a camera, then I can get out and about in the ‘fresh’ air.

Let us know how you like the Wii Fit. I’m curious as to how much fun it is and how effective it can be.

Yeah. The Wii Fit looks like it’s going to be great: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii_Fit

@Lucy - I love books too. I have a few I’m reading. But I really need some fun exercise. That’s hopefully where this will come in.

Hi Michael, I’m really interested in hearing how your Wii Fit works for you. I love my games and I use them for a diversion sometimes when I want to emotionally eat.

The only thing (for me) that I’d be concerned about with the Wii is whether it would keep me in my THR (target heart rate zone) consistently for at least 30 minutes.

I’m with ya on the boredom factor, though - my main cardio routine is paced walking in my THR on my treadmill - I watch tv at the same time to make it fun, otherwise I walk outside. If I could play Nintendo at the same time, I’d love it….well, I did try that once with my Game Cube when I was intent on getting to the next level, but it wasn’t super easy to hold the controller on the treadmill.

@JoLynn - I know it does strength exercises and a lot of balancing stuff. (Balancing works on your core: abs, etc.) But it makes use of the speaker and motion sensitive controls in the Wiimote by letting you jog in place while watching television or something because it gives “commands” through the speaker in the Wiimote and acts like a pedometer using the motion sensing. Rather ingenious in my opinion.
