There is a verse in ancient Indian texts which defines a teacher as one having these 3 qualities:
(a) One who has scientifically/logically studied his subject
(b) One who can explain to students in simple terms
(c) One who practices what he preaches.

Worth mentioning here would be another verse on 'learning' (there are many, but citing only one here):
(a) Quarter from his master
(b) Quarter from his collegues
(c) Quarter by himself
(d) Quarter in due course (traveling, experience, etc.)

I love the quote from you. It is awesome. Too many people today have closed minds, and that leads to biases and prejudices.

"The supreme teacher teaches without saying" - Chinese wisdom

One may find such similar quotes in other ancient cultures. May be, some other time.

Nice to see posts on such noble professions.
